A Heartfelt Welcome and Farewell

Staff with awards thumbnail267136

At the most recent Board of Education meeting, the district had the privilege of welcoming and celebrating a new group of tenured teachers into the East Quogue family —Elizabeth Farrouq, Kelly Hogan, and Lindsay Rosenberg. In just a short time, each of you has shown remarkable growth, passion, and dedication. Your creativity, compassion, and unwavering commitment inspire your students daily, and we are proud to have you as part of our district for many years to come.

Additionally, the district also bid a heartfelt farewell to two extraordinary veteran educators, Diane Burgwin and Kim O'Rourke, who are retiring after years of devoted service. Your wisdom, kindness, and professionalism have left a lasting impact on generations of students and colleagues alike. You’ve helped shape the very heart of our school community, and your legacy will continue to live on in the spirit of East Quogue. Thank you for all that you have given to this district. We are forever grateful.

Bringing Culture to Life Through Dance

students on stage thumbnail266878

June 6 marked the culmination of a year-long journey where third grade students explored cultures from around the world through their social studies lessons. From Mexico to Angola to Italy, the students not only studied these countries but brought them to life through dance.

Over the past four weeks, the students worked hard learning choreography that reflects the unique traditions of each culture. Friday’s performance was a joyful expression of that learning, blending movement, music, and meaning.

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing third grade teachers for their dedication, guidance, and support throughout this journey. To the students—we are incredibly proud of each one of you for your enthusiasm, hard work, and spirit.

What a beautiful way to celebrate global understanding and the arts!

East Quogue’s First Ability Awareness Event

East Quogue students in gym thumbnail266859

East Quogue School had a wonderful day celebrating the power of inclusion, understanding, and recognizing the unique abilities in all of us during the inaugural Ability Awareness Night. This event was made truly special thanks to the incredible volunteers, staff, and families who came together to support this important initiative.

In the weeks leading up to the event, our school social worker visited every classroom to help students build empathy and awareness, preparing them for a meaningful day of learning and connection.

At East Quogue, we believe every student is empowered and equipped for greatness. Instead of focusing on the word “disability,” we shift the conversation to recognize and celebrate the abilities each of us brings to our community.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this first Ability Awareness Day such a success.
